This is a very nice, well-maintained campground with a very nice staff. It is in an excellent location, looking out the mouth of Pensacola Bay into the Gulf, and about 10-12 minutes by car from downtown Pensacola. The sites are all wide concrete pads and are easy to get into. The shower house is as clean as any we've been in, but it could use some towel hooks by the sinks. This is one of the few places anywhere that dogs are allowed on the beach. All the campground asks is that you keep your pup on a leash and clean up after them. In the bonus department: the campground is 0.6 mile from the Naval aviation museum, and a bit farther is the lighthouse and Fort Barancas. If you're at the NAS at the right times of the year, the Blue Angels practice Tuesday and Wednesday mornings and visitors are welcome in the bleachers behind the museum. Even though the campground is just south of the west end of the runway, the jet noise is not bad. Most of us who can camp on a military installation like that kind of noise anyway. Our site was close to Radford Rd, one of the major roads into the NAS, so we noticed a bit of traffic noise in our hybrid TT. If possible ask for one of the sites farther from the road. We definitely plan on staying here again.

As National Park campgrounds go, Grand Canyon North is great. You get no hookups so polish up your boon docking skills, but camping in the quiet forest 100 yards from the canyon rim makes up for skimping on water. The campground store is friendly, very reasonably priced and has wireless internet access. I don't know if it's an "official" store service, but the store has an outlet strip where you can plug in to charge batteries. We camped there beginning on opening day of the season so the contracted staff was still working out the kinks in the coin-operated showers ($1.50 for 7 minutes). The shower quality and consistency improved over the four days we stayed there. The laundromat worked fine. All the RV sites are paved: our hybrid travel trailer required a single 2x8 under the right-side tires for leveling. I recommend this park and the North Rim in general to anyone looking for a laid-back way to enjoy the Grand Canyon without the crowds of the South Rim.

Alpen Rose is a very nice park with an extremely friendly staff. The sites are roomy and accessible and the views are excellent. It's just far enough north of Durango that you're not in the crowds but can still be in town in five minutes. The dog run area is a few fenced acres (no kidding) so dogs of all sizes and energy can romp. The showers, bathrooms and laundry were very well maintained and worked well. Wi-Fi was easy and fast. Highway noise was negligible. Bonus!...the narrow gauge train runs right across the road from the park. It was a beautiful spot and we will definitely stay there again when in the Durango area.

This is a very nice state park that is quiet, clean and well-maintained. We stayed here as we skirted south of Memphis on US 49 and 278. The staff is friendly. The new shower house has push button water control that affords very little control and takes some getting used to but gives a decent shower. Signage to the park is a bit spotty, and as there are several parks around Sardis Lake it took us a few minutes to find the right one. As state parks go, this is in the upper half of the pack. We would stay here again.

This is a very nice park immediately adjacent to Bryce Canyon National Park. We got a slightly lower rate as we visited before the crowded season began. The showers are nice but located at the office, a good walk from some sites. A restroom closer to outlying sites is nice, clean and well-maintained. Internet access comes from the motel a ways down the road so it is slow and spotty. None of these minor complaints come close to offsetting the great convenience of being a couple of minutes from Bryce Canyon NP entrance. The "general store" is pretty pricey so we drove down to Tropic (7 miles east) to stock up and have dinner out. Plenty of room to walk the dog, though there's no designated dog park. We would definitely stay here again if we are back in the area.

As noted, this campground can be a tight fit for larger rigs, but there were plenty of big rigs around our Envoy/hybrid travel trailer. The spaces are fairly narrow and close together, but shady. The upside is it is right in the middle of Moab and within walking distance of much of the central town area. It was plenty quiet, even for close quarters. Internet worked okay, tho' on Saturday night when the park was packed, it was slow. Showers/bath house were fine, although the men's room could use more than two toilets as there are plenty of tenters in the park. The dog walk area is small but adequate for most purposes except exercising a lively dog. We would stay here again.

This is a nice park in a convenient location staffed by people who absolutely could not care less if you stay there or somewhere else. I suppose being the only commercial RV park close to Zion National Park might have that effect. The showers are token-operated, not unusual in desert country, but have no soap dish, one hook, no bench, and no dry area save throwing your towel/clothes over the door. The single bath house has only two sinks, inadequate for a park this size. The message flatly and eloquently stated by a park employee is, "use your rig." (I'm glad I wasn't staying in a tent.) Once you get past the attitude the park has great views and is clean, quiet, and adjacent to a Springdale/Zion free shuttle. It's close enough that you can walk the quarter mile to the national park entrance. If there is a dog walk area, it is a well kept secret. We gave up asking the staff about anything. If we go back to Zion NP we will stay in one of the Park Service campgrounds.

Walnut RV Park is a functional -- if spartan -- park. We stopped here on our way cross-country as Vega was located at our daily mileage target. It's certainly not a destination park, but with full hook-ups it's a good value for the money if you just need a place to layover for a night. The shower facilities are old but work fine, though my wife chose to shower in our small trailer. The park is neat is and well kept. The owner lives on the property and is quite friendly. There is no dog park but there are plenty of empty areas around where our pup could walk on a leash. Freeway noise was not noticeable under the canvas of our hybrid travel trailer. I would stay there again.

If you are going across I-40 and need a stop on the west side of Memphis, this is the place. Spend a few minutes driving north of the freeway and enjoy this very quiet and pretty state park. The staff is friendly and courteous. All facilities are clean and well maintained. We would definitely stay here again.
